APED: "the company you keep"

September 29th, 2009 (10:03 pm)

Not to make light of Roman Polanski's crime with a doo-dad verse, but I was boggled to see the petition of film types who decried Polanski's arrest on what they delicately described as "a charge of morals." Even more remarkable: among the ethical marvels who signed on was film director John Landis, who ran the set of THE TWILIGHT ZONE with such care that he got two child actors and old pro Vic Morrow killed. As I remarked on Twitter, I'm amazed he had the unmitigated gall to sign, but I suppose a man responsible for beheading a child and crushing another might see Roman P. as a comparative exemplar of civic virtue.

John Landis killed two children and Vic Morrow,
Woody Allen screwed his foster child.
Now, I don't know about Scorcese,
or Michael Mann, but call me crazy --
that company, and Roman's, just don't drive me all that wild.

They're all douchebags and I can't wait until he goes to jail.

(This whole issue pisses me off to no end.)

You mean "married his step-daughter" for Woody Allen.

Bleh. Yeah. Shoot 'em all.

The whole "a charge of morals" is so fundamentally wrong it sickens me. He anally raped a thirteen-year-old girl, and admitted to it. Then he took off. At this point, he deserves to be arrested for running out on bail. That's a crime, too, and not one of morals.
