That would be the common reaction when first seeing that... then you find yourself humming the song the next day. Have you seen the Algorithm March with Ninjas?

Do you? I couldn't ever really pick up the rhythm of it.

Yeah... even my husband, who doesn't speak Japanese, finds himself singing, "Yatta!" under his breath.

I'm usually pretty susceptible to catchy tunes, but while I've got some rather odd mental images to be going on with, I try to remember this one and somehow my brain wanders off into "The tide is high, but I'm moving on...."

Yeah, I don't get it either.

I was scratching my head trying to think what it reminded me of, and then realized the "Yatta!" bits reminded me of Panasonic's Hi-Ho commercials.

WE DID IT!

Is this the first time you've seen this? The original was done in Japan in 2001.

Thanks for the explanation! I'm honestly surprised it's a spoof, because based on the Japanese television I've seen, this seems entirely believable.

(When you watch a Japanese leatherdaddy named Hard Gay shoot down meteors and alien spaceships by demonstrating his knowledge of how to phonetically spell out kanji, anything seems possible.)

It's not a spoof. More like silly japanese TV.

They're not singers, as I recall, they're a bunch of comedians. I think the next year they went with fish heads...

Anisa.
