Memorial Day

Memorial Day has come again. via Xavier Thoughts, one of my favorite gun-bloggers, I found a fun and touching short film, titled "Reveille," that's appropriate for the day. The editing could be a little tighter and shorter, but the sentiment and the performances are very nice, and it's quite well done. After you watch it, be sure to click on the link above, to Xavier's blog; the comments have some interesting information about one of the actors in the film.

A few years ago, I started a Memorial Day tradition: I set an empty place at my table for the fallen, or for those who can't be home because they have work to do. It's not much, but it's not a hollow gesture; the prophet Elijah is honored at the table once a year, too, and all he gets for his glory is a cup of wine. (Though, given the booze restrictions in many duty stations, I'm sure Willie and Joe would be tempted to buttonhole Elijah at Pesach and offer him a trade.)
