yes, I live

I am, in fact, alive. I just moved into my new place, which is fantastic. I was going to post some pictures for you guys, but I'm going to have to do that later, after I find my fershlugginer flash card reader. Which I know I had. I have two, in fact, because a while back I lost one and bought a replacement only to find the original later. I was at my storage unit the other day and saw one, and thought, "Well, I don't need that! I've been carting the other one around with me!"

...pride goeth before the man who loses shit. I'm not even sure where it is: could be in storage, could be at my mom's, could be at my friend Ash's place -- could be here, under something! No way to know.

Actually, now that I think about it, I have stuff in too many places. As George Carlin put it, "You got stuff all the way on the mainland, you got stuff on another island, you got stuff on this island -- I mean, supply lines are getting longer and harder to maintain!"

(He also observed, "A house is just a pile of stuff with a cover on it. ...If you didn't have so much stuff, you wouldn't need a house. You could just *walk around* all the time.")

Regardless, I am moved in. I has a cabin! Okay, it's a rental, but it's still a cabin, and it is awesome. The refrigerator is small, but it's got a good oven, and I'm currently trying to bake bread with it. We'll see how that goes. It's smelling pretty good now, though.

ETA: The bread turned out pretty good! Not bad considering it was my first time baking bread. I followed the No-Knead Bread recipe, which worked out fine. Now I'm watching THE PINK PANTHER, which is a wonderful picture. I love it so. Sellers is funny, but David Niven is absolutely delightful, and he makes the film for me. Very stylish, very wonderful. His scenes with Claudia Cardinale are just adorable -- they're fencing, but gently, and Niven plays such a magnificently mannered playboy.

Dinner was homemade bread, storebought chili augmented with fresh ingredients and spices, and wine. Not bad for bachelor living.
