Communist eats lobster, airbrushes history

December 23rd, 2007 (08:44 am)

This is almost as funny as the Venezuelan muckety-muck railing to reporters against capitalism and globalization, only to have a journalist ask him, on camera, why then he was wearing Gucci shoes and a Louis Vuitton tie: a German MEP is photographed eating lobster, which runs counter to her image, so she... corrects the past.

By the time she had realised her mistake - that as one of Germany's top communists she should probably not be seen eating lobster - it was too late.

There was no time to switch from the €22 (£16) "rich man's dish" to a more modest platter of kippers, because Sahra Wagenknecht had already been caught on camera in the act of betraying her own political ideals. . . . [so] the day after the dinner Wagenknecht, 38, allegedly dispatched her parliamentary assistant to the office of Feleknas Uca, the photographer and fellow Left MEP who was one of six other Left members at the dinner. The assistant asked whether Uca would lend her her digital camera to "take photographs with an acquaintance".

According to Uca, the photographs of Wagenknecht cracking into her lobster had been erased from the camera when it was returned to her the following day.

A Communist birthright, sold for a mess of lobster! Better than pottage, at any rate.

If you haven't seen the Venezuela bit, you really should -- it's a huge hit on YouTube, especially in South America. When the reporter asks him about his shoes, his face just... wibbles.

Heh, yes, this is awesomely funny. She even admitted that she deleted the photos because "she didn't like them".

Actually, it's kind of nice to have proof that she eats. I always thought she was a Stalinist zombie.

Nah, if she were a Stalinist zombie, then the picture would still be there, but the lobster would have vanished from it. Along with the person sitting to her left. Meanwhile, the photographer would be on a one-way ticket to the gulag, while Pravda would report the complete absence of lobsters in the worker's paradise.

And instead of cabbage, the worker's paradise would smell like BRAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNNSSSS.
