-- the thing about guns being smuggled over the US/Mexican border
-- the one about the recent mass shootings (short version: the one in Germany is the one that scares the willies out of me)

And I still need to catch up on SCC and DOLLHOUSE. My job has me behind a pokey-as-hell internet connection during the week, and I have barely been home the last few weekends. SCC is still going back and forth, but when the show is on, *damn* is it on. DOLLHOUSE is disappointing so far; it's like watching a guy do two seconds of juggling five butcher knives before he puts them down to show you slideshows of his Aunt Ethel visiting the Grand Canyon. There are interesting stories that could be told with the premise and format, and DOLLHOUSE seems bound and determined not to tell any of 'em.
("Alpha is coming!" is not enough. I do not give a rat's ass about Alpha coming or not, because the show has not made me give a crap about the established order of the series premise; why on earth should I care if it is threatened or overturned? The Alpha hints do not tantalize. They make it seem as if the show is saying, "Yeah, we suck now, but JUST WAIT." If the show is doing a bad job out of the gate, it is not likely to do better with the advanced stuff.)
