APED: "alligator, half-submerged"

Alligator, half-submerged
in wind-whipped water catching light.
There's an ibis. Quell the urge
to rise at once, and lunge, and bite.
Travel slowly. Wait to surge.
Crush it with a single bite.

A lot of recent poems have been pretty uninspired. The reason: I am utterly exhausted. I plan to spend a large chunk of this weekend asleep.
