APED: "twenty dollars worth of gone"

Back to the song lyrics! Country song, this time. Or, um, yet again.

Pullin' forty bucks an hour --
that's more than I could spend.
But the boss in here's gonna make it clear
he's earning every cent.
Standing by my shoulder,
like with all the other men.
But my idea will get me clear
when he comes round again...

Bossman, here's a twenty.
It's all that I can spend.
I ain't got much, and my old truck
is broke and on the mend
but I'm inclined to peace of mind
so just keep movin' on,
and give me twenty dollars worth of gone.

He's always coming on the floor
when he could have it made
sittin' up behind his desk
and drinkin' lemonade.
But he's gotta show that he's in charge,
and so he makes the rounds.
If I could have his great big chair,
I know I'd sit me down.

And if he takes my twenty,
then I'll go pass the hat,
'cause we got eighty men in here
who'd sure agree to that.
Make work a real vacation,
gettin' better every day.
We'd have more fun and get more done
if the boss would stay away.

So Bossman, here's a twenty.
It's all that I can spend.
I ain't got much, and my old truck
is broke and on the mend
but I'm inclined to peace of mind
so just keep movin' on,
and give me twenty dollars worth of gone.
