APED: "photo album"

In some ways, growing up is awesome. In others, not so much.

I've been where you are,
and I've gone where you'll be.
And I know how you feel: there's the whole world to see.
But you can't see it all. Just take it from me.
I've been where you are,
and I've gone where you'll be.

I've done what you've done,
and I've done what you'll do.
The mistakes that you'll make -- well, I've made them too,
but you can't learn from mine, so for you they're all new.
I've done what you've done,
and I've done what you'll do.

I was who you are,
and now I'm who you'll be.
Your photograph album is my memory.
Look at you. How'd you grow up to be me?
I was who you are,
and now I'm who you'll be.

I've met who you've met,
I knew people you'll know.
And some you should keep, and others let go,
and you'll get it wrong, kid. I told you so.
I've met who you've met,
I knew people you'll know.

But you're you, and you're there,
And I'm me, and I'm here.
And I haven't been you for many a year.
If you knew what I know -- ah, but you had no fear,
but you're you, and you're there,
and I'm me, and I'm here.
