APED: "suicide kings"

I was trying to figure out what to say about Michael Jackson's death. Then I realized Warren Zevon had already said it. Didn't stop me, of course. Lyrics for an up-tempo rock song.

You gotta look up and have someone to see.
You gotta have dreams that're more than you'll be.
You gotta have someone who just might have wings.
Don't wanna be ruled, but you gotta have kings.

They used to wear armor when they got in their fights,
and sometimes they died, yeah, but that's just the price.
Their armor got dented, it got all scratched up.
But that's a king's job, and they can't pass that cup.

They don't make 'em just like they used to no more.
They don't wear the armor like they wore before,
'cause time'll move on, with the changes it brings
but now all we get is suicide kings.

Porcelain monkeys, statues and toys,
great big old house, run around and make noise,
sing a big song, watch it climb up the charts,
don't gotta rule a damn thing but our hearts.

No battles, no armor, but troubles began
turns out you can't hammer out dents from a man.
use the sins and the pills for the peace that they bring,
and all that you'll get is a suicide king.

We lost one or two, and we'll lose us some more.
Guys're claiming the throne, but I don't know what for.
Turns out the gold crown that they want has got strings,
and all that we get is suicide kings.
They don't conquer none of the arrows nor slings,
and all that we get is suicide kings.
