Things I have been going to do today:

-- file and review site reports for a current project
-- finish a report so I can close out a project with a previous client
-- laundry
-- practice piano

Things I have accomplished so far today:
-- started laundry
-- practiced piano
-- finished rereading all 155 issues of Marvel's GI JOE comic
-- sliced the bejesus out of my finger AND THUMB attempting to open tamper-proof packaging

Note the serious avoidance of actual work.

NOT ALL TODAY. Over the past several days, I'd been working through 'em.

The art really turned to crap in the nineties, when everybody was trying to draw like McFarlane and Liefeld. And there were definitely rough patches. But there were bits that I'd missed or had forgotten, and they were *glorious.* (I'd somehow missed issue 98, in which Cobra Commander came back from being "dead," and his return is utterly glorious batshit crazy evil. Also, the Destro/Baroness scene at the end of issue 97, where they decide to retire together, is just heart-melting. There are really only four big couples in Hama's GI JOE run: 1) Snake-Eyes and Scarlett, 2) Destro and the Baroness, 3) Flint and Lady Jaye, and 4) Candy and Rip-Cord. #4 didn't amount to much before she died with the Soft Master, and #3 was just kind of there. And everybody loves Snake-Eyes and Scarlett, but man, I had forgotten how wonderful Destro and the Baroness are together.)

I've never read any GI Joe, but clearly I'm going to have to catch up on it. *wonders if her comic book store can hook her up*

I'm way behind on ALL my comics. I just keep buying them and staring at the pretty covers. But really, who blames me with everything I've heard that has happened to my poor Batman.

They were collected a while back; you could look around for some of those TPs. You'd be looking for the eighties comics, by Larry Hama, not the more recent ones. Though I understand Hama did a few of those. Haven't kept up with 'em of late.

Thank God I'm not the only one. Today I surfed the net a lot, did laundry and reread "Bridget Jones's Diary" (remarkably funny book BTW, and nice reworking of "Pride and Prejudice").

What *should* I have done? ...well, any number of mroe productive things.
