APED: "once upon a time"

There were princes and princesses,
kings and queens, and nobles, too,
stableboys, and girls-in-waiting,
there were knights, and me and you.

You went on quests, and I wore armor,
we each were rescued, in our turn,
gained grace and beauty, fought with honor,
learned to live, and lived to learn.

Tell me, please, again that story,
bring it back, it was sublime
the way it was, and is forever,
in our once upon a time.

There were dragons, wolves, stepmothers,
beasts and monsters, cruel and cold,
There still are. They rise before me.
Tell me, please, the tale you told.

Tell me, please, again that story,
bring it back, it was sublime
the way it was, and is forever,
in our once upon a time.
