APED: "hike up your big boy pants"

I'm kind of surprised how many poems of the day wind up being song lyrics once I put them down and squint at them.

When you're feeling troubled,
when you're feeling blue,
hike up your big boy pants.
When you're feeling down,
when you don't know what to do,
hike up your big boy pants.

When you're feeling lonely,
like you'll never have a friend,
hike up your big boy pants.
When you're thinking you're another day
that's closer to the end,
hike up your big boy pants.

'cause big boys
don't go feeling sorry
big boys
don't sit and home and stew
big boys
don't cry for longer than they gotta
you can be a big boy, if you do what big boys do.

When you're feeling empty,
when you're feeling cold,
hike up your big boy pants.
When you're feeling you're too young,
or maybe you're too old,
hike up your big boy pants.

When the world has turned against you
and there's no way you can win,
hike up your big boy pants.
Cause big boys just spit on their hands
and get right up again,
so hike up your big boy pants.

'cause big boys
don't complain and whine about it
big boys
don't quit until they're through
big boys
know things they're careful not to let on
you can be a big boy, if you do what big boys do.
Maybe someday I can be a big boy, too.
