APED: "motif"

Seal me in the wall, now, master,
You'd do no less. You took my eye,
But you left me a treat to nibble --
I'll repay you, by and by.

Seal me underneath the floorboards,
dismember all the pieces, do,
it's madness you careen toward --
I'll keep beating, just for you.

Seal me up now, dear Montressor,
whatever reason there might be,
you might fare better than the others:
it works but one time out of three.

Seal your sins, and darkest fervors;
they will out. That is their way.
Write it, author. One, thrice over --
but you can't seal yourself away.
