Not to make light of Roman Polanski's crime with a doo-dad verse, but I was boggled to see the petition of film types who decried Polanski's arrest on what they delicately described as "a charge of morals." Even more remarkable: among the ethical marvels who signed on was film director John Landis, who ran the set of THE TWILIGHT ZONE with such care that he got two child actors and old pro Vic Morrow killed. As I remarked on Twitter, I'm amazed he had the unmitigated gall to sign, but I suppose a man responsible for beheading a child and crushing another might see Roman P. as a comparative exemplar of civic virtue.
John Landis killed two children and Vic Morrow, Woody Allen screwed his foster child. Now, I don't know about Scorcese, or Michael Mann, but call me crazy -- that company, and Roman's, just don't drive me all that wild.
