APED: "equilibrium"

I dreamed three things when I awoke:
then saw you and forgot them all.
A waking life for joy bespoke
beside which dreams can only pall --
perhaps some creature pays my price
in nights of fear and waking pain
but if so, I would not think twice
to damn him to his lot again.
