Recommended newsreading

If you're not keeping up with Michael Yon's dispatches from Iraq, you're missing out.

(In addition to his excellent combat reporting -- a military veteran, Yon has a strong familiarity with the subject matter and so understands more of what goes on than, say, I would -- Yon also provides very useful details on how news is made in Iraq, and explains why it's much easier for the media to get certain kinds of stories than others. Really interesting, especially since nobody else involved with coverage of our military in Iraq had explained how the news-sausage is made.)
